The Monster Kids’ Fest is coming to downtown Newport tomorrow.
The event will begin at noon and features activities for children of all ages. Admission and all the attractions are free of charge thanks to the generous sponsors for the Monster Nights Downtown Entertainment Series.

The Jane Parnell Performance Hall across from the Depot on Front Street will be transformed into a children’s activity zone. Join volunteers from M&P Bank for free arts and crafts, balloon art, and a wide range of fun activities that will entertain children for hours.
Surrounding the downtown park, including inside the train depot, will be lots of unique attractions, including the spider jump, bounce houses, a giant dual slide, a three-piece 65-foot obstacle course, life-size zorb balls and track, and a gyroscope.
First-time attractions include a giant remote-control racetrack, space maze laser tag, and True Projection hunting/shooting simulator. For the really adventurous, try out the 25-foot rock climbing wall to test your climbing skills.
Cockrill’s Country Critters will bring a wide variety of animals to the festival and pony rides throughout the day under the big tent beside the Iron Mountain Depot. Let your little ones get up close with animals large and small.
The arts and crafts activities, petting zoo, and outdoor attractions will be open from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Two performances will be held on the Terry Scoggins Memorial Stage. At 4 p.m., witness “Awesome Science,” with swirling vortexes and the coolest cryo demonstrations around from the Museum of Discovery.
