Firefighters were on the scene of a major structure fire in west Batesville Sunday afternoon.
No major injuries were reported in the blaze, but the home, located at 1257 N. Central, looked to be a complete loss. Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery, who provided some of the images of the scene posted with this article, said the Red Cross was working with the affected families.
The fire reportedly started in a shed adjacent to the home.
Authorities responded to the scene, just after 1:45 p.m. Crews from the Batesville Fire Department and the Southside Volunteer Fire Department worked together to bring the flames under control.
“Although a sad day for the victims, this shows cooperation for our county,” said Jeffery.
Authorities said the scene was cleared at 5:30 p.m.
