Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery has issued a Burn Ban for the county, effective Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says gusty winds and dry air are contributing to an increased wildfire threat throughout the state. The forecast currently does not call for precipitation until Wednesday.

As of Oct. 20, burn bans were in effect for Drew, Lincoln, Perry, White, and Woodruff counties in Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Forestry Division.
