An Izard County, Arkansas, man was killed Monday morning after authorities say his van was knocked into the path of a semi by a police vehicle two miles north of Thayer, Mo.
Missouri State Highway Patrol says Joshua M. Parker, 29, of Calico Rock, died when the 2011 GMC Express van he was driving was struck from behind by a 2017 Ford Explorer police cruiser as Parker was stopped in traffic on Highway 63, trying to turn left.
The impact knocked Parker’s van into the path of an oncoming 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
The highway patrol report said the Thayer Police officer suffered moderate injuries in the accident, while the driver of the Freightliner suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.
