Mark Wilson of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on October 25, 2023, at the age of 56. He was born June 20, 1967, in Batesville, Arkansas, the son of Johnny Milton and Wanda (Wherry) Wilson.
Wilson was a 1985 graduate of Newark High School. He was a member of the basketball, football, baseball and track teams. On April 2, 1988, Mr. Mark Wilson married Miss Tammy Jackson, and they enjoyed over 35 years together. He worked for Granges for 36 years as a shipping and receiving clerk. He was a hard worker, sometimes working two jobs to provide for his family. Mr. Wilson enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns and sports with his dog, Snix, in the recliner. He and his cat, Pepper, loved relaxing on the front porch in the rocking chair. Another of his hobbies was farming and driving John Deere tractors. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Newark First Baptist Church.
Most of all, Mr. Wilson loved his wife, children, family and friends and cherished spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Milton Wilson.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Tammy, of the home; one son, Cody Wilson of Newark; one daughter, Haley Bishop of Newark; bonus daughters, Madison Jackson and Chloe Jackson both of Newark; his mother, Wanda (Wherry) Wilson of Newark; one brother, Heath Wilson of Newark; one sister, Crystal Slayden and husband, Brisden, of Desha; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit the Newark First Baptist Church, on Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Bill Goodwin officiating. The interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Bobby Clausen, Randall King, Brian Richey, Joey Hollman, Josh Gates, Brisden Slayden, Blake Jackson, and Bryce Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Hutchison, Bennie Alls, Bobby Younger, Rickie Sharp, Johnny Wherry, Kevin Bristow, Elvis McCoy, and past and present employees of Granges.
