James Winfield Messick III, 68, of Evening Shade, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at his home. He was born January 13, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri to James Messick II and Mary Lou Conners. He was a former jailer for Sharp County and was of the Christian faith.
He enjoyed farming with his brother-in-law, Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Lois Moody Messick of the home, a son Ronald Wayne Younger, and three daughters, Amanda Hill, Jennifer Hornberger and Elizabeth Black, five grandchildren, Ty Younger, Morgan Withers, Kaitlin Black, Brandon Black and Abby Withers, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bill Corter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Spotts Cemetery located in Poughkeepsie.
Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
