Head-on collision in Heber Springs claims life of Quitman man

A Quitman man died in a head-on collision in Heber Springs Friday morning.

According to the Arkansas State Police preliminary fatality report, Calvin Melton Brannon Jr., 59, died when the 1969 Ford pick-up truck he was driving southbound on State Highway 25 was struck head-on by a northbound 2008 Honda CRV driven by Britteny Barber, 40, of Mountain View, after the CRV crossed the centerline.

Barber was injured in the accident, along with a passenger in the Brannon vehicle, Remedgina Brannon, of Quitman. The report did not list an age for Remedgina Brannon. Both were taken to Little Rock hospitals for treatment.

The weather was clear, and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
