The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has recognized Southside Charter High School (SCHS) as one of the top-performing schools in the state, honoring it “for outstanding growth and graduation rates during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years,” the district said in a media release.
SCHS is one of 163 schools in Arkansas to receive recognition and financial awards through the Arkansas School Recognition Program. This program acknowledges schools that excel in student performance and academic growth. The recognition earned the school a grant of $100 per student. In total, Southside Charter High School will receive $43,700 in recognition of its outstanding accomplishments.
“The Southside School District extends its sincere congratulations to the students and staff for this prestigious recognition,” said Superintendent Dion Stevens. “The school’s exemplary performance serves as an inspiration to the entire district and the community.”
In the release, the district said it “is incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the students, teachers, staff, and the Southside Community. This achievement reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success.”
