The Batesville Junior High Charter (BJHSC) seventh-grade football team will be honored for its undefeated season at an upcoming Batesville School Board meeting.

In a release, the district said the BJHSC seventh-grade football team “…exhibited dedication, determination, and teamwork…and demonstrated their commitment by going above and beyond, attending optional practices before the school day even began, and learning valuable skills by observing junior high practices. This proactive approach resulted in an impressive expansion of their playbook, allowing them to run plays similar to those used by their 8th and 9th-grade counterparts.”

“We were proud of their effort this season,” said Coach Kelly Rush. “They came in before school started and had the opportunity to watch our junior high practices and learn. We were able to expand our playbook and run a lot of similar things that our eighth and ninth graders did. This is a credit to them for being able to focus and pay attention to execute.”

“We had to coach a lot of things this year with this group, but never had to coach their attitude or effort,” said Coach Greg Freeman. “They played until the whistle blew every play. We are very excited to get two more years with this group.”

The school board meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 13, at West Elementary, 850 N. Hill St., in Batesville, and is open to the public. It is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
