A Cherokee Village woman died in a two-vehicle accident that also injured two others Monday afternoon in Ash Flat.

According to the Arkansas State Police Fatality Report, Phyllis Thompson, 93, was a passenger in a 2015 Lincoln MKC SUV traveling north on Highway 167. When the SUV approached the traffic light to attempt a left turn onto Highway 412, the report said it failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of a 1999 Dodge Ram traveling south on Highway 167.

The Ram struck the passenger side of the Lincoln, killing Thompson and injuring the SUV’s driver, Mark Thompson, 67, of Cherokee Village. The driver of the Ram, Matthew Melton, 30, of Evening Shade, was also injured in the accident. Mark Thompson and Melton were both taken to White River Medical Center in Batesville for treatment of their injuries.

The weather was rainy, and the road condition was wet at the time of the accident, the report said.
