“Lords and ladies” from the school choir will perform Christmas carols for guests following a dinner of French onion soup, wheat bread loaves, fruit, smoked pork tenderloin, twice-baked potatoes, green bean bundles, flaming dessert, wassail, tea, and coffee.
Attendees will be announced on their arrival and guided to their table, while brass fanfares will compliment the “feast,” the release said.
Madrigal singing, initially an informal form of private entertainment in the residences of the landed gentry, involved lords and ladies performing the music themselves during dinners in a Great Hall. The tradition saw increased activity during the twelve days of the Christmas season, marked by entertaining and singing of madrigals and carols.
Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance by going to the Southside Schools website and clicking on the Ye Olde Christmas Madrigal Feast link.
