World War II veteran Cornelius Burrow (pictured above, seated, with family in a screenshot from Friday’s Fox 16 News report) recently celebrated his 100th birthday early, surrounded by family and friends in Batesville. Burrow’s birthday was Saturday, but he was presented with an American flag for his service on Friday.
Burrow served in the Army during World War II and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be surrounded by loved ones on this special occasion.
In a report from Little Rock television station Fox 16, Burrow said, “I didn’t think I would make it to 100.”
Burrow’s daughters Cathy Jones and Linda Rounds told Fox 16’s Tylisa Hampton that despite their dad never wanting recognition for his service in the army, he deserves it.
“He is just a special person to us,” Rounds said.
Jones said her father’s service to America makes her proud.
The Fox 16 report said Burrow and his late wife grew a family with 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Hampton’s report said that despite facing numerous challenges throughout his life, Burrow has remained a pillar of strength for his family, and they are incredibly proud of his accomplishments.
Burrow told the station that he is already looking forward to celebrating another year of life with his loved ones.
