Over 75 local businesses and industry partners volunteered their time to conduct mock interviews with Southside Charter High School students on Dec. 6. The event aimed to inspire and prepare graduating seniors for their next steps after high school.
The day began with the mock interviews for all 120 seniors enrolled in the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program, sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Career Education. The interviews were designed to offer valuable real-world experience and potential job opportunities for the participating students.
“We are all working hard to prepare for every Future Story at Southside. Whether a student is looking to join the workforce or head to further educational opportunities, these seniors’ next step is a big one,” said JAG instructor Jason Weaver. “We want our graduates to be prepared to join the workplace, and we appreciate our community helping us with this goal.”
Southside Charter High School Principal Jimmy Hodges has listened closely to recent
graduates and current employers.
“We want our students to know what to expect in the future as they apply and interview for jobs after high school,” said Hodges. “We hope to set them up for success and give them an advantage as they begin their ‘Future Story.’”
In addition to the mock interviews, the event also featured presentations by various “Future Story Speakers” from across Arkansas. These speakers, including Carrie Price, Dylan Herekemp, Hunter Johnson, Kerri Grace, and Roger Rich, shared their personal journeys and offered valuable advice to the younger students.
