White River Health (WRH) and the Batesville Chamber of Commerce conducted the Grand Opening of WRH Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, previously known as WRMC Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Clinic, on Friday, Nov. 17. Approximately 150 employees, community, and family members attended. The new facility, on the White River Medical Center campus, is located on what was previously a walking track. The facility opened to patients in November.
The new orthopaedic facility is 15,000 square feet, more than doubling the size of the previous location. This expansion addresses the growing need for orthopaedic care in the area by providing a comfortable environment for patients, allowing providers and their teams space to work efficiently, and anticipating future growth. Drs. J.D. Allen, Jeff Angel, Dylan Carpenter, and Wesley Greer are practicing in the new facility, as well as Chad Grady, APRN, and Josh McIntosh, APRN. Dr. Cody McLeod, who is completing fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery, will join the practice in 2024.
The project was part of WRH ’s strategy to become an Orthopaedic Center of Excellence. This designation is gained by achieving certification in at least three of four orthopaedic service line programs. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Healthcare sets the requirements for this designation based on the guidelines, recommendations, and best practices recognized by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
“What a joy it was to see such a large turnout at the ribbon cutting ceremony for our new orthopaedics clinic,” says Gary Paxson, president and CEO of WRH. “The support demonstrated by such a large group in attendance, as well as the very positive feedback on the building design by those who took a tour, help confirm the value this clinic will provide to our community for years to come. The legacy of orthopaedic surgery was started over 40 years ago and has grown to a point making this building necessary. Our surgeons and staff provide exceptional orthopaedic care, and this new clinic will allow that care to continue and grow in the coming generations.”
WRH Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine’s new address is 1690 Harrison Street in Batesville, AR. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closing from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch. Patients can make an appointment by calling (870) 793-2371.
