Gene Lloyd Dennis, 93, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away December 12, 2023, in Mission, Texas where he resides in the winter months. He was born February 6, 1930, in Caraway, Arkansas to Walter (W.C.) and Carrie (Dolly) Dennis.
He was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and elder throughout his younger years. He devoted most of his life to farming in the Mississippi Delta. After retirement, Mr. Dennis possessed a deep love for travel and found great pleasure in music, dancing, competition pool, Mexican dominoes and many other activities. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Gene cherished the special memories he was able to make with them during his lifetime. Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Mrs. Wanda Haney Dennis, one daughter, Carrie Timmerman (Ed) of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Rickey Dennis (Brenda) of Grenada, MS; Allen Dennis (Felice) Yellville, AR; eight grandchildren, Mara Read, Heather Milhollen, Anne Robinett, Jonathan Dennis, Mary Beth Romano, Kristie Sumrall, Danielle Price and Creighton Dennis; 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and two brothers, Bob Dennis and Dan Dennis of Cherokee Village, AR.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services took place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View, AR. with Eddie Sharp, Ed Timmerman and Steve Hentz officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday morning prior to the service at Roller Crouch Funeral Home. Jonathan Dennis, Peyton Sumrall, Dylan Dennis, Adam Price, Adam Dennis, and Chris Sumrall will honor Mr. Dennis by serving as pallbearers and carry him to rest in the Turkey Creek Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Dennis and Dan Dennis.
