Marsha Lynn Smith, 72, passed away on December 20, 2023. She was born in Newport, AR, on October 25, 1951, to William and Imajean Thompson.
Marsha was outgoing, strong-willed, and caring. She loved to dance, listen to Elvis, and watch soap operas and WWE. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her and love her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Marion Thompson and Imajean Inez (Hughes) Thompson; the love of her life, Rod Goodman; sisters, Clara Thompson Ring and Beatrice Thompson; grandson, Brandon Low; and nephews, Gary Don Ring and Alan Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanie Slisher of Florida, Laura Arnold (John) of Batesville, Winter Mobley (Michael) of Florida; brother, Woody Thompson of Southside; grandchildren, Jordan Dowell, Cory Slisher, Gage Dowell, Tazra Kinion, and Alexis Mobley; great-grandchildren, Lowen Dowell, Brandon Lee, Ezra VanWinkle, and Edin VanWinkle; nieces, Tracie Skidmore and Imajean Greer; and nephews, Michael Williams, Tony Bunch, and Cecil Rutledge.
A visitation will be held at Willis Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Steve Gunther and Agnes Melcher, will follow the visitation, starting at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
