UPDATE: This story has been updated with links to Post’s court information (see below).

Authorities arrested a Calico Rock man after discovering what was described as “…a large-scale illicit narcotics and pharmaceuticals distribution center” at a local residence.

According to a release from the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne Post, 55, was arrested on Jan. 9, after officers seized over 200,000 pills upon the execution of a search warrant at the residence, located off North Moccasin Creek Road, north of Calico Rock.

A large percentage of the seized pills field-tested positive for the presence of fentanyl, the release said.

The warrant was the result of an investigation by Homeland Security, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the sheriff’s office for possession and trafficking of illicit narcotics.

Assisting in the search warrant were the North Central Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 Team, the Third Judicial District Drug Task Force, the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, and the Batesville Police Department.

Post has been charged in Izard County Circuit Court with trafficking a Schedule IV substance, a Class Y felony; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony; maintaining a drug premises, a Class C felony; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, a Class D felony; trafficking fentanyl, a Class Y felony; and criminal use of a communication device, a Class C felony. Post’s bond was set at $500,000.

According to his arrest affidavit, Post (pictured below in his booking photo) told authorities he had been receiving the pills via shipments from a doctor in India. The affidavit said Post “…did make a voluntary statement to agents inside the home, stating: ‘I want to explain all this to you guys, I just receive packages in the mail and ship them out for someone.’”
