Marvin Dale Honey of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born January 6, 1946, the son of Marvin Sandford and Gertrude (Brown) Honey.
Mr. Honey served honorably in the Air Force. He began working for American Lantern and saw the company through many changes, retiring from Paslode. Mr. Honey attended and was a Deacon at Sandhill Church of Christ.
Mr. Honey was a member of VFW Post 4683. He enjoyed working with children and coaching peewee baseball and football. He had a skill for woodworking and loved crafting rocking chairs and toys for children.
Mr. Honey was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Dean Honey; two sisters, Norma Jean Chapman and Shirley Ann Hunthrop; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Margie (Turner) Honey, of the home; three sons, Roger Honey and wife, Becky, of Pocahontas, David Honey and wife, Mindy, of Hollister, Missouri, and Jeremy Tubbs of Newport; one daughter, Tammy Tubbs, of Newport; ten grandchildren, Kevin, Melissa, Abigail, Destiny, Jesse, Spencer, Gabriel, Wyatt, Zach, and Katelyn; and two sisters, Betty Benson and Marie Henderson.
Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday, January 20, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with Mike Campbell officiating. The interment will be in Sandhill Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Spencer Tubbs, Wyatt Honey, Brandon Douglas, Gabriel Tubbs, Zach Honey, and Kevin Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickey Reed and James Dean Walton.
