Ozark Folk Center releases 2024 schedule of concerts, events

A Homecoming Hootenanny, a John Prine tribute, and a Fiddle & Clog event are part of the Ozark Folk Center’s schedule for 2024.

In addition to those new events, the calendar includes the 22nd annual Spring Bluegrass Festival, presented by the Mountain View Bluegrass Association, which begins on Thursday, March 7. The festival will conclude on Saturday, March 9, showcasing traditional and contemporary bluegrass acts.

March 7-9: Mountain View Bluegrass Association Presents: 22nd Annual Spring Bluegrass Festival 

Ozark Highlands Theater 

Tickets are on sale at MountainView-Bluegrass.com. Plan your retreat to Mountain View during the Spring Bluegrass Festival featuring some of the finest bluegrass bands in the country. Opening night on Thursday features an all-gospel bluegrass concert and matinee, and evening shows on Friday and Saturday showcase traditional and contemporary bluegrass acts.

Performers include Grammy Award-winner Becky Buller, The  Baker Family, Catahoula Drive, Dave Adkins, Gibson Brothers, Edgar Loudermilk, SpringStreet,  Big Mill, and the Redmond Keisler Tribute Band. Produced by the Mountain View Bluegrass  Assoc., Inc. A 501 c3 organization to benefit the Music Roots Program for youth in the Mountain  View area.

Saturday, April 20: The Committee of One Hundred Presents: Next Generation Benefit Concert

Ozark Highlands Theater 

Tickets on sale: Jan. 20 

The Committee of One Hundred presents an evening concert starring the region’s best youth  stringbands and veteran folksingers during the Arkansas Folk Festival in Mountain View. The benefit concert raises money for the Music Roots program for youth in the Mountain View area. 

Box Office opens at 5 p.m. Doors at 6 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. 

Adult ticket: $15  

Child ticket (ages 6-12): $8 

Family pass (2 adults, all kids under 18): $35 

*Day-of tickets purchased at the theater or Gift Shop cost $2 more.

April 25-27: Dulcimer Jamboree Workshops

 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Whether you want to hone your musical abilities or it’s your first time playing the mountain or  hammered dulcimer, the annual dulcimer workshops are a great opportunity to relax, get  hands-on, and make music with fellow musicians. Registration includes admission to evening  concerts at Ozark Highlands Theater on Friday and Saturday.

3-day day-of workshop cost: $175 

1-day day-of workshop cost: $75 

Non-participant passes are available for spouses, friends, or family members taking workshops  and include admission to the Craft village on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday plus music concerts  on Friday and Saturday night.

April 26-27: Dulcimer Jamboree Concerts & Championship Contests

Ozark Highlands Theater 

Tickets on sale: Jan. 26 

Experience the sounds of this unique and ancient instrument during evening concerts and  championship contests on April 26 and 27. Admission is free to the Hammered Dulcimer and  Mountain Dulcimer Championships before concerts on Friday and Saturday. Evening shows feature acclaimed singers, multi-instrumentalists, and national champions including Aubrey  Atwater, Ted Yoder, Duane Porterfield, Kara Barnard, Joe Jewell, Sarah Kate Morgan, and Rick  Thum. Friday and Saturday concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Join us as we remember iconic American folksinger and songwriter John Prine during a tribute  concert at the Ozark Folk Center’s 1,000-seat music venue. You’ll enjoy a memorable evening of  stories and songs performed by John’s son Tommy Prine, who released his debut album in 2023, and long-time friend and 10x multi-platinum songwriter, Keith Sykes.

Saturday, Aug. 3: Arkansas Fiddle & Banjo Championships and Evening Concert

Concert tickets go on sale: May 4 

The Arkansas Fiddle and Banjo Championships return in 2024. Admission is free for both state  championship contests that happen between 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Talented banjo players will  compete in the morning and fiddlers will compete in the afternoon. Stick around in the evening  for a special show featuring fiddle and banjo extraordinares and the Ozark Folk Center’s square  dancers from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Usual concert fees apply.

August 23-24: Bluegrass & Fried Chicken

Ozark Highlands Theater, Skillet Restaurant

Retreat to the Ozarks for finger-licking fried chicken and hot pickin’ during a weekend of top notch bluegrass music and old-fashioned entertainment. Live music at our 1,000-seat indoor  music theater includes performances by IBMA award-winners Authentic Unlimited, The Charla  Freeland Band, SPGMA award-winners The Waddington Brothers, and more. The Ozark Folk  Center’s Skillet Restaurant will serve its famous all-you-can-eat fried chicken buffet before an  evening concert on Friday and in between a matinee and evening concert on Saturday. (Chicken  buffet sold separately.) Festival tickets include all-day admission to the Craft Village for live  music, craft demos, gardens, shopping, and pure old-fashioned fun.
