Obituary: Norleen “Nory” Barbara Cherry Brown

Norleen “Nory” Barbara Cherry Brown, 88 of Ash Flat AR, born November 9, 1935, received her wings on January 13, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Rose Cherry, husband John Paul Brown Sr., brother Robert Cherry (Betty), and son John Paul Brown Jr.

She is survived by her sons Dan Brown of Ash Flat AR, Dave Brown (Laura) of Jackson MO, daughter-in-law Claire Brown of Colorado Springs CO, Grandchildren Grant and Clark Brown, Sister-in-law Nancy Callender, Nieces Karen Callender (Lenny), Mary Jo Cherry and Jamie Callender, nephews Rob Cherry, Jim Callender, and Danny Callender.

Nory was born and raised in Chicago IL. She moved to Ash Flat with her husband and 3 boys in 1976.

They were owners of Shabro Log Homes and partners of Naleen’s Handmade Candies with good friends Bob and Nancy Surles. Nory later became sole owner and created her tasty chocolates until she retired at the age of 82.

Nory’s delicious handmade chocolates and fudge were enjoyed by many and were shipped all over the world.

Nory enjoyed cooking, especially her Italian family recipes which included her infamous Lasagna.

She was a master seamstress and loved to create cross-stitch and diamond dotz painting works of art.

Nory’s greatest passion was spending time with her beloved animals, family and friends.

She was deeply devoted to those whom she loved and to maintaining those close ties.

She was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness and was never seen without her beautiful smile and infectious laughter.

She will be remembered and missed by her family and many friends for her ever-present joyfulness and cheerfulness.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
