Johnny Wayne Burnett, 64, of Batesville, departed this life on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was born to John Burnett and Julia Spurgeon Burnett in Springfield, Missouri on December 8, 1959.
During his lifetime he was a heavy equipment operator and worked for some time for the Independence County Road Department.
Johnny was a fun-loving person who loved his family very much, had many friends, loved to a fault, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed music and dancing and was a kind-hearted and gentle man. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lesa, of Batesville; his daughters, Jennifer (Logan) Edwards, Joni McKenzie, and Amiee (Thomas) Jones, all of Batesville; his brother, Paul Spurgeon and sister, Sharon Harris; ten grandchildren, Kaley, Aden, Alexis, Bryce, Wyatt, Jewelia, Aleesa, Emily, Dillon, and Teaghan; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Christopher Holt, two brothers, Paul and Don Spurgeon, and a sister, Loretta Tharp.
A Celebration of Life will be held later.
