Obituary: Jimmy Charles Barnes

Jimmy Charles Barnes, 68, was called to his heavenly home on February 13, 2024, in Batesville, AR. He was born on March 24, 1955, in Batesville, AR, to Jim T. Barnes and Lavada Barnes. Jimmy enjoyed drag racing and NASCAR racing, Mo Power cars, wrestling, and collecting NASCAR memorabilia. Jimmy washed trucks for Bill Davis Trucking Company for fifteen years and ConAgra for five years. Above all else, Jimmy loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

Jimmy is survived by his mother, Lavada Barnes; his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Jane Barnes; son, Jimmy Allen Barnes; daughters, April Davis (Jody) and Ashley Winkle (Shane); grandchildren, Presley Barnes, Autumn Easterwood (Dalton), Isaac Winkle, Andrew Peek, Peyton Barnes, Abigail Winkle, and Maggie Jo Davis; great-granddaughter, Delta Easterwood; sisters, Jean Hurtt (Larry), Terrie Lewallen (Ronnie), Barbara Sharp, and Pamela Ochoa (Juan). He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Perry and Nettie Barnes; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Clara Haggard; and his father, Jim T. Barnes.

Visitation will be held at Maple Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 10 AM until 12 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Curt Howard, will follow at 2 PM. Interment will be held at Egner Cemetery in Salado, AR. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jody Davis, Shaun Davis, Peyton Barnes, Andrew Peek, Isaac Winkle, Shane Winkle, Jesse Rogers, Tommy Hampton, and Ronnie Lewallen. The family would like to recognize the following as honorary pallbearers: Frankie St. John, Logan Riggs, Earin Davis, Jerry Taylor, Keith Rogers, Chuck Tate, Jimmy Franks, Rick Roberts, Debbie Taylor, and the congregation at Maple Springs Baptist Church. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Maple Springs Baptist Church for their love and support during this time.
