Two members of the Batesville School District were honored with the Citizens Bank “Above & Beyond” Award at this week’s school board meeting.
Brady Rolins (pictured above, left, with Citizens Bank Community Engagement Officer Ashley Engles), a member of the district’s maintenance department, and Matt Douglas (right), principal at Batesville Junior High School, were named Monday to receive the February award.
Brady’s colleagues commented on his pleasant attitude and his willingness to share and grow his expertise. They said:
- “Brady Rolins is becoming a valuable asset to the Batesville School District plumbing team, showcasing not only his technical proficiency but also a strong work ethic and teamwork skills.”
- “I enjoy working with Brady. He is easy to get along with and is always ready to help!”
- “Brady is a good and polite guy. He is always eager to learn new things. I am glad to have him as a partner.”
Described as a “servant leader who prioritizes others before himself,” Douglas is described as helping at every level of Batesville Junior High School. His team members commented on how he supports and encourages others:
- “Mr. Douglas consistently demonstrates thoughtfulness by considering the needs and well-being of the students and staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.”
- “Mr. Douglas does an amazing job as principal! He sincerely loves these kids and truly wants what’s best for them. He is completely committed and invested in his role here. I am so appreciative of everything he does for his students.”
- “Mr. Douglas is always willing and eager to stop everything he is doing to help when someone has an issue or a question. He demonstrates servant leadership day in and day out and keeps the morale at a high level. He can be seen giving students fist bumps, playing the IT guy, cleaning out the garden, or walking the halls encouraging teachers. He is a perfect example of someone who goes ‘Above & Beyond’ every single day.”
- “Mr. Douglas stands out as a true champion for our students by advocating for their needs and laying the foundation for a positive learning environment. He is one of the most intelligent individuals I have ever known, and I am proud to be a part of his team! He is the glue that holds the junior high together.”
Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges. Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
