Edward L. Dunnem, Sr., 80, of Sulphur Rock passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024.
He was born December 28, 1943, in Pomona, California to Alvin Edward Dunnem and Pauline Bryant Dunnem.
Ed was a loving and tenderhearted man whose passion was family and church. He loved church and reading the Bible; when he was saved the love for the Lord guided him to spend endless hours at church. He was a member of Quail Valley Free Will Baptist Church where he also served as a trustee and Sunday School Superintendant for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and spent time-fighting in Vietnam. He loved all of his grandchildren very much and was very proud that he had so many grandchildren who were able to serve. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and Missouri Pacific Railroad for 22 years of his life. He enjoyed golfing and even though in his later years he wasn’t able to play anymore he would still watch it on T.V. He always enjoyed talking to everyone and loved all the photos his family shared. He also loved traveling and managed to make it to many of the states, the Bahamas, and Mexico; although he didn’t get to complete the last of his bucket list he had a great life with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sharon K. Dunnem of the home; two daughters, Dina Marie Bartlett (Jerry) of Ash Flat and Wendy Wilker (Will) of Sulphur Rock; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Edward L. Dunnem, Jr.; grandson, Shawn Dunnem; an infant granddaughter; brother, Alvin Dunnem; and sister, Joyce Smith.
Pallbearers are Caleb Wilker, Tony Wilker, Juan Wilker, William Wilker, Hunter Jones, and William Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jordan Weaver.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Quail Valley Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Macks Chapel Cemetery in Sulphur Rock under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am Wednesday, March 13, 2024, just prior to service at the church.
