Lyon College will continue its annual Convocation speaker series with a presentation by author and Lyon College alumnus Garrard Conley titled “The Novel ‘All the World Beside’: Researching Historical Fiction” on Thursday, April 4, at 4 p.m. in the Nucor Auditorium in the Lyon Business and Economics Building on the Lyon College campus at 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.
Conley (pictured) is The New York Times bestselling author of the memoir “Boy Erased” (Riverhead/Penguin 2016), which was adapted into a 2018 film starring Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, and Lucas Hedges, and the novel “All the World Beside” (Riverhead/Penguin 2024). Conley is also the creator and co-producer of the podcast “UnErased: The History of Conversion Therapy in America” (Limina/Stitcher 2018).
His work has been published by The New York Times, Oxford American, Time, and Virginia Quarterly Review, among others. Conley graduated from Brooklyn College’s Master of Fine Arts program as a Truman Capote Fellow specializing in fiction. He is an assistant professor of creative writing at Kennesaw State University.
The free event is open to the public.
