Jimmy Dunham of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born October 6, 1941, the son of Robert and Bessie (Ivie) Dunham. On May 18, 1961, Mr. Jimmy Dunham was married to Miss Georgia Louise Hancock, and together they enjoyed 56 years.
Jimmy retired from Countryside Mobile Homes and later spent many years building homes and portable buildings. He worked hard to provide for the family he loved so much.
He believed in following the King James Version of the Holy Bible, serving God from cover to cover.
Jimmy was a talented musician who had the ability to play rhythm guitar in such a way that it seemed like he was playing 2-3 guitars at once. Over 45 years ago, Mr. Dunham started a singing ministry with his wife, Georgia, and daughter, Brenda. They traveled to different places, sharing their gifts with anyone who needed them.
Jimmy was a gentle soul, who loved his family and God with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Georgia (Hancock) Dunham; one son, Jimmy Dewayne Dunham; his son-in-law, Rodney Wilson; one brother, Willard “Bill” Dunham; two sisters, Ruth Green and Fannie Lee Ivie; and his parents.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Dunham) Wilson of Newport. He also leaves behind one grandson, David Wilson and his wife, Suzanne of Velvet Ridge, as well as five great-grandchildren: Hayden Huey, Addison Huey, Sonny Wilson, Eric Wilson, and Harmony Glover. Additionally, he is survived by one sister, Marie Mitchell of Van Buren, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Barbara Phillips and Sonny and Bettye Gish. Jimmy had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends who will miss him dearly.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life and lunch at the PHP Building in Amagon, on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:30-1:30 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Jackson County Road Department, Doug Greeno, Marcus Grady, and JR Rogers.
