Southside Charter High School announced that seven graduating seniors have been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Governor’s Scholarship.
The scholarship recognizes exceptional academic achievement, with recipients scoring 32 or higher on the ACT and maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 throughout high school.
The honorees are Peyton Foster, Christopher Middleton, Grayson Poole, Katelyn Sharp, Avery Simpson, Ashley Taylor, and Logan Westbrook. School officials commended their work ethic, dedication, and the support from parents, peers, and faculty.
“To have seven students out of a senior class of 120 receive the Distinguished Governor’s Scholarship is truly impressive,” said Principal Jimmy Hodges. “It speaks volumes about the caliber of students we have at Southside. These students are not only successful in the classroom, but also in several clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities, representing the diverse talents and interests we foster at Southside.
“At Southside, we strive to create an environment that nurtures high levels of learning for all students. Our dedicated teachers do an amazing job of challenging and supporting our students as they navigate their academic journey.”
As the school prepares to graduate its senior class, Hodges expressed confidence in their future endeavors.
“We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to support all of our seniors as they take their next step toward their future story,” he said. “I have no doubt that these seniors have very bright futures ahead of them.
