Laverne (Thompson) Jordan of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born July 23, 1933, in Swifton, Arkansas, the daughter of Kenneth Opal and Lola Mae (Mitts) Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of Swifton High School. She had worked for Hutchins Furniture Store, Jamestown Dress Shop, H & R Block, and the Swifton Post Office. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Jordan could often be found working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Her pride and joy was her family. She truly loved them more than anything.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Dean Jordan; one infant son; one sister, Betty Lou Riley; and her parents.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by one son, Randy Jordan and wife, Ellen, of Swifton; one daughter, Lana Bowen and husband, Sammy, of Swifton; one brother, Cletus Lynn Thompson and wife, Nettie Jane, of Swifton; one sister, Sue Kell of Newport; one grandchild, Bob Mitchell; four great-grandchildren, Anna Claire, Holden, Hudson, and Hayes; and a lifetime of other family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Bill Wheeler officiating.
