Cledis Odell Evans, 74, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away May 12th, 2024, at his beloved home. He was born January 8th, 1950, in Gardena, California, to Loy and Iva Lee Evans.

Cledis was a Christian and of the Methodist faith. For years he worked as a truck driver and later owned his own towing and recovery business. Cledis loved all things racing. From watching the races on TV every weekend to driving his own race car, he had a passion for it. Besides racing, Cledis enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the US, and listening to music at the Mountain View picking park. He adored his grandchildren and was proud of them all. Many people fail to find a life partner at all. However, he was fortunate to have two that he loved and was very lucky to have. He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.

Cledis was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Iva Evans; loving wife of forty-nine years, Thelma Evens; one daughter, Antoinette Ann Evans; one brother, Tommy Evans; one stepson-in-law, Frank Kupillas.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of five years, Joyce Evans of the home; two children, Terry (Toby) Amos of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Cledis (Tracy) Evans Jr. of Charleston, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Ryan, Crystal, Jerrod, Lindsey, and Laci; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ian, Lucas, Malachi, Oliver, Stetson, Baylor, and Braxton; one step-daughter, Patricia Kupillas. Cledis is also survived by other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, beginning at 10:00 am. Reverend Lyn Poplin will officiate the service. The interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Ryan Lewis, Tyler Willis, Mike Lewis, Tommy Evans, David Evans, and Toby Amos.

Honorary Pallbearers are Shane Swafford and Phillip Swafford.
