An 87-year-old woman from Ash Flat has died after a two-vehicle accident in Highland over the Memorial Day weekend.
The Arkansas State Police reported that on May 25, Geraldine W. Azil was a passenger in a southbound 2019 Buick on U.S. Highway 62/412 driven by 89-year-old Billy D. Azil, also of Ash Flat.
The state police fatality report stated that when a northbound 2022 Dodge Ram attempted to make a left turn off Hwy. 62/412 onto Highway 175, the front of the Buick collided with the passenger side of the Ram.
The driver of the Ram, identified in the report as Brent A. Figgins, 42, of Cherokee Village, was injured in the collision along with Billy Azil and Geraldine Azil. All three were transferred to the hospital for their injuries.
The weather was reported as dry and clear at the time of the accident, which was listed as 11:15 a.m.
Geraldine W. Azil died in a Little Rock hospital on May 28, 2024.
