Arkansas State Police: Fugitive taken into custody

UPDATE, June 20, 2024, 11: 15 a.m.: According to the Arkansas State Police, the suspect has been taken into custody.

FUGITIVE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
June 20, 2024

MORRILTON, Ark. — Morrilton Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and the Conway County Sheriff’s Office took Stacy Lee Drake, 50, into custody at about 10 a.m. in a wooded area south of the Morrilton intersection of University Boulevard and Poor Farm Road.

Drake was taken into custody without incident after a manhunt that began late Tuesday. The Arkansas National Guard and the Arkansas Division of Community Correction assisted in the search.

Drake is wanted in connection with homicides and carjackings in Oklahoma and is wanted on other felony warrants from multiple jurisdictions, with charges including aggravated robbery, carjacking, and murder.

He is being held at the Conway County Detention Center. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

EARLIER: Arkansas State Police and other local law enforcement agencies are working to apprehend a Birmingham, Ala., man wanted in multiple homicides.

According to an Arkansas State Police statement released to the media Wednesday morning, Stacy Lee Drake (pictured), 50, was last seen on foot outside a motel in Morrilton and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Drake is wanted in connection with three homicides in Oklahoma, stemming from two separate carjackings.

State police say Drake is separately wanted on multiple felony warrants from multiple jurisdictions, with charges including aggravated robbery, carjacking, and murder.

Drake is a white male with brown hair and eyes. He is 5’11” and weighs 185 pounds. His last known address was in Birmingham, Ala.

Anyone who sees Drake should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.
