Sonny served in the National Guard for 7 years and started farming at the age of 9 driving a tractor. He always worked to make money driving a school bus, picking cotton, etc. He drove a tractor to school so he could come home early and work the farm with his dad. He loved farming, even buying gravel to put on the county roads where holes were using his beloved backhoe. After retiring, Sonny checked the fields daily and practiced conservation by installing underground pipes all over the farm. He loved his grandkids and great-grandkids teaching them to drive just like he did with his kids. He was known as a go-to person when one needed a little loan who could not get a quick loan at a bank. He was a generous and caring person who was always willing to help one who was down on his luck. Sonny loved his Sunday dinners enjoying all of his kids and grandkids coming over to visit and everyone being together.
