Obituary: Melvin “Hot Rod” Worsham

Melvin “Hot Rod” Worsham, 75, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed from this life on June 17, 2024.  He was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas on March 29, 1949, to Gloster and Vanilla (Pyles) Worsham.

Melvin dedicated many years to working for the Union Pacific Railroad, where his hard work and commitment were greatly valued. His passions extended beyond his profession; he was an avid drag racer, deer hunter, and horse rider, particularly enjoying participating in MLK Day parades. Melvin had a knack for fixing things, often doing mechanic and handyman work for friends and family. He cherished the times spent at Worsham family reunions and Cotton Plant Days, where he could connect with loved ones. A proud member of the Pegasus Motorcycle Club and Just Us Stepping Horse Club, Melvin’s adventurous spirit and helpful nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Elizabeth Worsham; his wife, Susie Worsham; his brothers, Jesse Nunn and Archie Worsham; his sisters, Esterine Robinson and Sandra Worsham.

He is survived by his sons, Melvin Scott Worsham and Michael (Kelli) Worsham both of Little Rock; his daughters, Jacqueline Price, Tammi Worsham, Sydney Worsham and Lydia (Vanilla) Worsham all of Little Rock; his brothers, Alvin Worsham (twin brother) and Rufus Worsham; his sisters, Betty Bell and Marie Pouncey; his grandchildren, Phillip Lowe, Marty Brooks Jr., Quinteria Battles (Reginald Lewis), Thomas Bailey III, and Tyra Price; his great-grandchildren,  Jamarion Harris, Daylen Lowe, Sariya Lowe, Paris Lewis, Kylie Lewis, Amelia Lowe, Princeton Lowe, Londyn Washington, Kassidy Lowe; and his beloved fur babies, prized horses, Son and Tupac and guard dog, Boi; grand fur babies, Cooper, Marley, Niko, Nori, Lucy, Lulu and many more.

Service will be at Faithful Funeral Home in Little Rock on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 4:00 until service time.  The interment will be at Odd Fellow Cemetery.
