Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery told White River Now that a logger was injured Friday afternoon on Cedar Grove Road in Charlotte when a tree fell on the logger.

Charlotte Fire Chief Andy Crigler and the Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene with an Independence County OEM John Deere Gator stationed at the fire station, which allowed the Charlotte FD to respond quickly and provide rescue services.

The logger is currently being treated at a local hospital.

Jeffery said that Independence County Office of Emergency Management Director Bill Johnson has been instrumental in staging critical equipment like the John Deere UTV throughout the county for such occurrences.

The aid and rescue of the logger was rendered within one hour, Jeffery said.
