Batesville cheer teams, Prancers return from camps with honors

The Batesville High School and Junior High cheer teams have returned from the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) camp with a variety of accolades.

According to the Batesville School District (BSD), hard work and dedication of both teams paid off, earning them top honors and the chance to compete on a national stage.

Cheer coach Allison Angel expressed her pride in the teams.

“Our cheerleaders have shown incredible commitment and teamwork,” said Angel. “Their success at NCA camp is a testament to their hard work and the support they receive from their families and community.”

High School Cheer Achievements:

  • 1st Place, Band Chant in Large Varsity Division
  • Herkie Team Award
  • Superior Ribbons in Game Day Cheer & Band Chant
  • “Sharp for Sophia” Award (given to one team at the entire camp with the sharpest motion technique)
  • Technical Excellence in Motions
  • Top Gun Dance
  • 14 All American Nominees
    • 3 All American: Chloe Cordell, Treasure Dale, and Robey Landreth
  • 6 Seniors Asked to Try Out for NCA Staff:
    • Hailey Brown, Layla Barnes, Faith Cheatham, Robey Landreth, Ryan Mulick, and Kayla Santos
  • Spirit Stick
  • A Bid to Nationals

Junior High Cheer Achievements:

  • Superior Ribbons in Game Day Cheer and Band Chant
  • 1st Place, Band Chant in Small Junior High Division
  • 11 All American Nominees
    • 2 All American: Makinlee Ghannad and Chloe Massey
  • Technical Excellence in Motions
  • A Bid to Nationals

The BSD also noted the BHSC Prancers (above) recently returned from the National Dance Alliance (NDA) camp with accolades of their own.

The district said the Prancers’ NDA camp performance “…set a high standard, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to excel and inspire.”

“NDA camp was a great success for our BHSC Prancers,” said Coach Mary Cox (pictured below, far left, with Prancers). “We couldn’t be more proud of them representing BHSC, our district, and community. The dedication and spirit shown by these athletes were truly inspiring. We are now ready for the best season yet.”

  • Overall Excellence in Leadership: Tisha Cannon
  • Pin It Forward: Lucy Montgomery

The Batesville School District will hold a community pep rally on Friday, Aug. 23. All fall student athletes will be recognized.
