Obituary: Jeanette Bridges

Jeanette Bridges, 85, of Greenbrier departed this life on July 2, 2024.  She was born February 28, 1939, to Ted and Pauline (Mason) King.

Jeanette was a beloved figure in her community, known for her warm heart and welcoming spirit. She found joy in cooking, and creating delicious meals that brought her family together. Her love for reading and Bible study reflected her devout Christian faith, which guided her throughout her life. Jeanette cherished outings with friends, where she shared laughter and stories over meals. She was a deeply devoted mother and led by an example of strength and faith.  She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart.  She provided comfort and wisdom to all who sought her counsel. Jeanette also enjoyed many hours of cheerful gossip with her dear sister Rita. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl W. Bridges; her son, Phillip Starbuck; her brothers, Gary King and Sherwood King; and her best friend, Eva Allen.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Ed) James of Southaven, Mississippi, Jackie (Chris) Montgomery of Greenbrier, and Jimmie Sue (Jeff) Mayes of Houston, Texas; her brothers, Darrell King of Bald Knob, Bruce (Von) King of Pleasant Plains, Kirk  (Mary) King of Velvet Ridge; Jeff King of Velvet Ridge; her sister, Rita Groves of Maumelle; her grandchildren, Brandy Reeder, David Starbuck, Summer Starbuck, Cody Starbuck, Mary Seamans, Lindsey Stephens, Ashley Hill, Abbey Francis, Blake Montgomery, Braden Montgomery, Joshua Mayes, Josephine Mayes, and Sullivan Mayes; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris Montgomery, Jeff Mayes, Jake Hill, Karson Francis, Dustin Reeder, and Cody Starbuck.  Honorary pallbearers are David Starbuck, Blake Montgomery, Braden Montgomery, Waylon Stephens, Joshua Mayes, Sully Mayes, Colton Seamans, Zach Seamans, and Cole Walker Hill.

Service will be at 11:00 on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Crosspoint Baptist Church in Greenbrier with Brother Matt Bagby officiating, visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be at Velvet Ridge Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
