An educator who started his career with the Batesville School District (BSD) is returning in a new role.

According to a release from the BSD, Dr. Zach Harber (pictured) has been named the district’s new federal programs coordinator.

The district said in a release that Harber “brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to education and community development.”

Harber began his teaching career at Batesville School District in 2011 as an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. After five years at Batesville Schools, Harber moved to the University of Arkansas Community College Batesville (UACCB), where he spent eight years working on workforce and technical education programs.

Earlier this year, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders appointed Harber to the Arkansas Apprenticeship Coordinating Steering Committee.

In the release, BSD Superintendent Dr. Ken James shared his enthusiasm about Harber’s new role.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Dr. Harber back to Batesville School District as our new federal programs coordinator,” James said. “His experience in K-12 and postsecondary education, and his dedication to community development make him a great fit for our district. His skills will help enhance our programs and support the success of our students and their families.”

The district said Harber’s return “is driven by his goal to ensure that our faculty and staff have the information and resources they need to succeed.” According to the district, Harber has strongly advocated for volunteerism, believing it is critical to a vibrant and healthy community.

Harber is joined by his wife, Jessica Harber, an educator with experience in multiple school districts as a classroom instructor and special education professional. Their two children are registered to attend Batesville School District in August.
