James Lee Harper, 88, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in Cave City, AR. He was born on September 20, 1935, in Crowell, Texas. James grew up on a farm in West Texas where he always said he learned to drive a tractor from the time he could walk. He was in the United States Army (M.A.S.H. Unit) during the Korean War. James was a faithful husband to Alice Joyce Harper for thirty years. He was an X-ray technician for UT Texas for forty years and the King of the Watermelon Festival in 2018. Above all else, James was a good pawpaw to his grandkids, and he loved spending time with them on the farm.

James is survived by his son, Chip Potts Jr.; daughters, Liz Bruce and Mary Lucid; grandchildren, Evan, Miles, and Aaron; great-grandchild, Liam; and sister-in-law, Willie Sellers. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Alice Joyce Harper.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service in Batesville, AR.
