Alice (Fair) Shelton of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life at her home on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born April 28, 1941, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Earl and Frieda (Moskop) Fair.
In May of 1959, Miss Alice Fair graduated from Jonesboro High School. On November 4, 1960, she married Mr. Benjamin Roy Shelton, and together they enjoyed 53 years.
Mrs. Shelton was Director of Communications at Stuttgart Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1999. She was an avid reader, and a dedicated Arkansas Razorback fan, attending many games. Mrs. Shelton loved to laugh and have fun. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Benjamin Shelton; one son, John Franklin Shelton; one brother, Lynn Fair; one sister, Frankie White; and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, Tim Shelton and wife, Kathy of Heber Springs, and Ken Shelton and fiancé, Cortney Graves of Little Rock; two daughters, Laura Shelton, who also served as her caregiver, of Newport, and Julie Allen and husband, Michael of Newport; one daughter-in-law, Paula Shelton of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Jessica Allen, Meagan Allen, Kieran John Shelton, Scott Byrd and wife, Jeania, and Tina Grant and husband, Josh; eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jordan, Sterling, Skyler, Kaylee, Maddie, Beau, and Hunter; one brother, Wayne Fair and wife, Annie of Niceville, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Judy Collins of Jonesboro, Kathleen Shelton of Mesa, Arizona, and Dianna Shelton of Independence, Kentucky; a host of nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
