Teresa Fay Pitts, 75, of Harrisburg, Arkansas departed this life Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at St. Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro. Teresa was born August 3, 1953, in Harrisburg, Arkansas the daughter of Joseph Douglas Sr. and Lucy (Coons) Merritt.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Teresa was a graduate of Harrisburg High School in 1971. She enjoyed traveling, drinking her diet Mountain Dews, and eating Nutty Buddy bars.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Teresa was also preceded in death by two brothers: Jimmy Douglas and Dewayne Merritt, and six sisters: Joann Roberts, Mae Morgan, Sarah June Merritt, Gladys Struer, Jackie Berryhill, and Joey Harvey.
She is survived by one daughter, Leslie (Berry) Batchelar of Harrisburg, three brothers: John Merritt of Wynne, Donnie Merritt of Harrisburg, and Douglas Merritt of Jonesboro, two sisters: Rose Brown of Harrisburg and Margie Alexander of Milledgeville, Tennessee, two grandchildren: Kay Wolfe and Samuel Scott and two great-grandchildren: Bradley Wolfe and Gracelynn Wolfe.
Visitation will be Friday, July 19 from noon until service time at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg. Service time will be 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Derrick Followell conducting the service. These men will serve as active pallbearers: Clay Brown, Chester Harvey, Steve Headley, Jay Wilhein, James Merritt, Jessy Batchelar, and Samuel Scott. Interment will be in Farm Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
