A longtime educator has a new role in the Batesville School District (BSD).
According to a BSD release, Tina Baker (pictured) has been appointed as West Elementary’s new assistant principal.
With a 38-year career in education and a passion for fostering academic excellence and student development, Tina is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive, the district said in the release.
According to the release, Baker’s journey in education began in 1986 when she started teaching first grade at Central Elementary. After 20 years at Central, she moved to Sulphur Rock, where she taught fifth and sixth-grade English Language Arts for one year. Baker then served as an instructional facilitator in the Batesville School District for 14 years before becoming the dean of students at West Elementary. This year marks her fifth year in an administrative role.
Baker holds an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University, equipping her with the knowledge and skills to implement innovative educational strategies that meet the unique needs of elementary students. As assistant principal, the district said she will collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and parents to implement curriculum enhancements and behavioral interventions that promote academic achievement and positive student behavior.
“I am thrilled to take on the role of assistant principal at West Elementary,” said Baker. “I believe in fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and lifelong learning among our students. By building strong relationships with students, staff, and the community, we can create a supportive educational environment where every child can reach their full potential.”
BSD Superintendent Dr. Ken James expressed his confidence in Baker’s abilities.
“Tina Baker’s extensive experience and unwavering dedication to student development make her an invaluable asset to West Elementary,” he said. “Her commitment to academic excellence and her collaborative approach will undoubtedly enhance the educational experience for our students.”
Beyond her administrative duties, the district said Baker actively engages in professional development and stays current with educational trends to ensure that West Elementary remains at the forefront of elementary education.
