Dan McGee, 85, of Beedeville, departed this life on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Woodruff County Health Center. He was born February 3, 1939, in the Citizenship Community in Jackson County, the son of Kelsie Glbert McGee and Mildred McDougal McGee.
Dan was a farmer for most of his life, sometimes working as a carpenter or mechanic, but nothing beat his love for farming. Dan was a member of the Beedeville Church of Christ where he attended for many years. Dan enjoyed riding horses, and horse shows with his family, and he was an avid deer hunter with friends and family, including his son, Brad McGee. Dan was a member of the National Guard for a few years after graduating high school in 1957.
Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his father, Kelsie Gilbert McGee; mother, Mildred Lovon McDougal McGee; seven sisters, Linda DeFoor, Lovon Hanley, Della McNally, Lavada Dix, Louis Dix, Bernice Kemp, and Hazel Mahon.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann (Hodge) McGee, of the home; two daughters, Treasia McGee of Horseshoe Bend and Danice McGee of McCrory; one son, Dan Bradley McGee and wife, Kathy, of Marion; three grandchildren, Derek May and wife, Bobbi, Samantha Meredith and husband, Stanford, and Emma McGee; four great-grandchildren, Jakob, Hailey, Rylee, and Kayden May; three sisters, Sharon Oehrli, Patricia Miller, and Kathy Matthews; and one brother, Allen McGee.
Friends may visit at Beedeville Church of Christ on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. David Cannon officiating. The interment will be in Fakes Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Berry Abney, Benton Abney, Judd Cissell, Jeff Bagwell, Matt Hanley, Derek May, Herschel Jackson, and Jakob May. Honorary pallbearers are the men of the church.
