The Eighth Annual Howard L. House Memorial Golf Tournament, presented by First Community Bank, will be held on August 3 and 4 at The Course at Eagle Mountain in Batesville.

Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County.

According to a release from First Community Bank, the tournament was established to honor the memory of Howard L. House, a beloved community member and advocate for children’s rights, who passed away in 2014. The release said the tournament reflects his commitment to the community. House was a successful businessman and deeply involved in local charitable efforts.

“This tournament is a tribute to Howard’s legacy and his dedication to helping children,” said Dale Cole, chairman and chief executive officer of First Community Bank. “Howard believed in giving back to the community and supporting those in need, particularly children. We are proud to continue his mission through this event, which brings together people who share his passion for making a difference.”

The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Independence County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, opened in November 2018 to reduce trauma and re-victimization of child abuse victims. Serving Independence, Izard, Stone, Sharp, and Fulton Counties, it is the 17th CAC in Arkansas and one of over 700 across the United States.

“This event underscores the importance of supporting our local CAC,” said Dianne Lamberth, Howard L. House’s daughter and a board member emeritus of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County. “My father would be incredibly proud to see the community coming together to support such a vital organization. The CAC provides crucial services to children and families in our region, and events like this tournament help ensure they can continue their important work.”

The CAC board of directors includes: Kyle Christopher (president), Dr. Pat Mulick Ph.D. (vice president), Dr. Katie Yarnell MD (secretary), Jason Taylor (treasurer), Jimmy Hodges, Stu Smith, and Johnathon Burgess. Emeritus board members include Dianne Lamberth, Beatrice Moore, Janis Walmsley, and Arlene Martin.
