Obituary: Gale Ann (Just) Casper

Gale Ann (Just) Casper, 80, of Batesville, AR, died on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024. She was born on September 19, 1943, in New Britain, CT, to the late Stanley E. Just and Julia Ann (Wanat) Just. Gale graduated from New Britain Senior High School, Class of 1961. After high school, Gale continued her education at Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York, New York, earning an associate’s degree there. Gale also graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR, where she completed the courses to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, licensed in both Massachusetts and Arkansas. Gale worked as an LPN in Northampton, Massachusetts, as well as in the Batesville, Cave City, and Searcy regions in Arkansas. Early on, Gale worked as a Systems Analyst at Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut. She loved working in the healthcare field but was also very proud of her work as a Library Assistant for Butler Library at Columbia University in New York, New York. Gale was very intelligent and found the world to be fascinating. She saw the best in the world and people. Gale enjoyed numerous creative arts and the many forms of crafting and was very gifted at quilting. She won many awards at agricultural fairs and art fairs for her different works. She loved spending time with her family, whether it was staying home and playing pinochle, or attending outdoor festivals and fairs. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.

Gale is preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Barbara Ann Broff; and her daughter, Heather Evelyn Casper. She is survived by her loving husband Edward Walter Robert Casper, Ph.D. Edward and Gale were married on June 12, 1965, in New York, New York, and enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage together. Gale is also survived by her son, Michael Edward Casper and his wife, Eva Faith Balucas Casper; and her beloved granddaughter, Bella Ann Balucas Casper.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. There will be a visitation on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville, AR. There will also be a viewing on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Willis Funeral Service Chapel with interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
