Barbara Ann (Kinard) Tubbs, 74, of Newport departed this life on August 6, 2024. She was born March 27, 1950, in Newport, Arkansas to Cecil Rhodes and Jean (Ivy) Kinard.
Barbara was a 1968 graduate of Grubbs High School and a nurse for over forty years and cherished her nursing friends. She enjoyed country music and dancing, often filling her home with the lively sounds of her favorite tunes. Known for her culinary skills, Barbara loved cooking for her family and friends, with her deviled eggs being a particular favorite. She had a special fondness for collecting red birds and delighted in playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A meticulous planner, Barbara was especially devoted to organizing Ivy and Kinard family reunions. She was deeply involved in the People Helping People organization, which was a significant part of her life. Sunday dinners at Penney’s Place were a cherished tradition for her. Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and community spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Wilma (Kinard) Sheppard, her stepbrothers, Robert Loftin and Elton Loftin; her stepsister, Mae Lynn England; her stepfather, Harold Loftin; her niece, Carrie Coleman; and her grandson, Kory Watkins.
She is survived by her sons, Josh Kinard (Brooke) of Dell and Shawn Kinard (Kim) of Newport; her brothers, James Ira Kinard (RoseAnn) of Grubbs, Gary Wayne Kinard (Cindy) of Philadelphia, Tennessee, and Robert Lynn Kinard (Lorrie) of Hazen; her sister, Nora Gibson (Johnny) of Newport; her sister-in-law, Sheila Loftin; her brother-in-law, John England; Her grandchildren, Crystal, Penny, Jessica, Derek, Alex, Kevin, Rylan Carter, and Carsen; seventeen great-grandchildren; special friends, Brenda Wilson, David Howard, and Eva Bedwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Elias Reed, Allen Edwards, Seth Trotter, Wesley Trotter, Josh Reed, Kevin Watkins, Jacob Conditt, and Dalton Conditt. Honorary pallbearers are her loving friends at People Helping People.
Service will be Friday, August 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
