John Brown, 74, of Tuckerman passed from this life on July 31, 2024. He was born January 27, 1950, in Newport to Calvin Lewis and Alice Lea (Moore) Brown.
He was a painter by trade, dedicating his life to perfecting his craft. His love for westerns, especially the works of Louis L’Amour and William Johnstone, provided him countless hours of joy and escape. Whether it was the thrill of a good story or the serenity of the outdoors, he found happiness in fishing and hunting, passions that allowed him to connect with nature. He served his country proudly as a Marine in Vietnam. His dedication and bravery will always be remembered by those who knew him. He was the first baby born in the new Harris Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s history.
He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his family. His gentle spirit and warm heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was always ready with a smile or a helping hand, embodying the true essence of love and dedication. His legacy of kindness, love, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be deeply cherished, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Marie Engle; his brother, Dewitt Brown; his sisters, Freddie Brown and Faye Baty.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Donna Brown; his sons, Michael Brown (LeAnn) of Memphis, Chris Brown of Memphis, and Joey Holladay (Latisha) of Tuckerman; his daughters, Christy Willard (Clayton) of Searcy, Pauline (Ira) Dalton of Tupelo, and Susie Jones of Truman; his brothers, Calvin Brown of Batesville and Lloyd Brown (Cindy) of Memphis; his sister, Cheary Murphy of Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 2:00 on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Tuckerman Family Worship Center in Tuckerman, Arkansas.
