The Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC) is presenting”Shared Spaces,” an exhibition by Phoenix-based artist Daniella Napolitano, at the BAAC Gallery on Main (226 E Main St.) through Sept. 28, 2024. The exhibition is sponsored by Future Fuel Chemical Company.

Napolitano, a printmaker, designer, and art educator, draws inspiration from nature and ecology. “Shared Spaces” focuses on animals commonly seen in the Sonoran Desert, particularly those living alongside humans in urban environments.

Through recent print works, Napolitano explores how animals navigate and adapt to evolving cityscapes. The exhibition depicts hawks hunting between parking decks, coyotes traversing highways, and grackles scavenging during backyard barbecues. It captures the resilience, resourcefulness, and even whimsical interactions of these urban dwellers, BAAC said in a release announcing the exhibition.

A public reception with a brief artist talk will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. with a members-only happy hour beforehand from 4-5 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
