Obituary: Laura Lee Woods

Laura Lee (Godfrey) Woods, 77, of Batesville, AR, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was born on October 24, 1946, in San Pedro, CA, to the late Robert A. Godfrey and Edna M. Godfrey. Laura graduated from Carson High School in Carson, CA, Class of 1964, which was the inaugural graduating class of Carson High. She was of Christian faith and loved to worship the Lord, Jesus Christ. Laura was a very gifted quilt maker. She enjoyed quilting and had even begun leading a quilting group at church. Laura also enjoyed clog dancing (in her younger years) having met the love of her life, her husband, Gary Woods, at a clogging class. She also loved bunnies and See’s Candies. Laura was an avid lover of Disneyland and all things Disney. More than anything though, Laura loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laura was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know and love her.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Bobby Godfrey and Charles Godfrey. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 43 years, Gary Woods; her daughters, Deanna Swan (Robert), Christine Thomas (Kevin), Jamie Sisk, Jennifer L. Platt (Dave), and Kelly Kind (Jeff); her 9 beloved grandchildren, Sarah Robbins (Joshua), Bryan Swan, Jessica Carr, Melanie Vance (Dave), Michael Alexander, Max Alexander, Jason Connick, Kenny Thomas, and John Thomas; 14 treasured great-grandchildren; and her life-long best friend, Diane Walizer.

Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choosing. Some of Laura’s favorites were the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Association.
