Dorothy Jane Floyd, 87, of Cave City passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in Cave City. She was born October 27, 1936 in Sitka to John and Coyla (Thomas) Coats. She was a homemaker, seamstress, artist, and a member of Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8042 in Evening Shade, and the American Legion at Williford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas A. Floyd; one brother, John Edward Coats; two sisters, Pauline Coats and Barbara Marcum.

Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Jones (Myles) of Nelsonville; two brothers, John Thomas Coats and Kenneth Coats (Phyllis) both of Smithville; two sisters, Hazel Browder of Cave City and Joyce Guinnip of Evening Shade; two grandchildren, Martha Ann Lane and Connie Marie Sorrells; gifted in two grandchildren, Dwayne Jones and Deana Powell; ten great grandchildren, Tanner Weaver, Kelsey Swirka, Mika Corlew, Kadin Lane, Morgan Sowerbutts, Sydney Williams, Kristen Cullison, Jessica Powell, Jonathan Powell, and Olivia Jones and several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Dorothy was mamaw to all the kids around.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church near Smithville with Bro. Boyce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Spotts Cemetery located near Poughkeepsie.

Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Visitation will begin Friday, August 23, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Weaver, Kadin Lane, Dylan Swirka, Walker Williams, Dwayne Jones, and John Coats, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers are the staff @ Cave City Nursing Home and Dr. Lambert.
