Carl Blankenship (pictured above, right, with Community Engagement Officer Ashley Engles), with the Batesville School District Transportation Department, is the August recipient of the Citizens Bank “Above & Beyond” Award

In a release, Citizens Bank said, “It takes a team of committed colleagues to ensure the smooth transportation of students to and from school. Carl works hard to serve his students in his role as bus driver and has become known for his service.”

His colleagues said of him:

  •  “Carl Blankenship is a veteran bus driver and a devoted team player. His main priority is getting children home safely each and every day.”
  • “No matter the situation, Mr. Blankenship is understanding. He adapts and adjusts to meet the needs of the Transportation Department.”
  • “Carl has 40 plus years in driving a school bus. He not only drives a route, but is always willing to take on extra duties in driving trips.”
  • “Carl drives one of our country routes. He has been doing it for so long that he basically knows everyone in the community. Everyone refers to him as ‘Bro. Carl.’”

Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges. Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
